Swallow the Shadows

I watched as Shiro, the pale specter that had seemed to attach himself to me for some reason I had yet to figure out, followed me into the room. Long, ashen hair flowing behind him as if on an unseen and unfelt breeze, he seemed to glide over the floor more than walk, though I could still faintly hear as his feet hit the carpeted flooring, lending a slightly more believable quality and I sometimes wondered if he did that sort of thing just for my sake.

I knew he could be as silent as a ghost, as silent as the thing he was. He could disappear and reappear at will, though I never knew where he went when he did. But it seemed he always tried to do things in the most human way he could while around me and I could never tell if it was a way to make it easier for me to accept him or if he did it for some other reason, perhaps out of habit.

In the darkened room he looked so real, so alive. His pale flesh seemed substantial and smooth, tangible in a way I knew it wouldn’t have been for a normal person. With nothing but the moon light shining through the parted curtains of the window, he seemed to glow and push back the shadows, both the ones I could see and the ones that invaded my mind and clawed at my sanity. He was something solid for me to hold onto, even as figurative as that was. I was lost in a nightmare that no one else could see, could feel, but Shiro could. Shiro knew what was happening and he believed me. I think he would have even if he hadn’t seen the shadowy creature that lurked in the dark, that followed me and fed off my fear.

A devilish smirk pulled at pale lips as the colorless entity’s golden eyes landed on me, flashing in the darkened room and swirling with the amusement he ever seemed to have an abundance of.

I turned away from him, shedding my shirt in the process. I had work in the morning and no time for his games. My boss wouldn’t really care if I was a bit late, but I would, I was never late.

“Why don’t you disappear for a few hours? Go haunt someone else for a while.” I told him even though I really didn’t mind his company, nor the way he was bound to sneak in my bed after I fell asleep, curling close and radiating a heat unusual for something not of the living world.

I jumped as warm arms wrapped around me, one black nailed hand settling on my hip while the other wrapped around my chest in an almost possessive embrace, pulling my muscled body flush with his front. The contact didn’t bring unwanted visions, it never did with Shiro, but it sent electricity through my body. He was shorter than I, but still managed to bring his face close to my ear, his petal soft lips brushing the sensitive skin there as he spoke in his lilting, distorted but husky voice.

“I don’ wanna haunt anyone else, Grimm. I only wan’ you.”

I was so intrigued and taken in by the story, and this scene came to mind, and -of course- I couldn't resist drawing it out *squirm* Creepy sneaky Shirosaki is sneaky creepy~

....*headdesk and chuckles sheepishly/nervously* Gosh, I really wish I can say/write more here but I've seriously fried my brain from working on this, coupled with lack of sleep (again), that I've forgotten what I wanted to say exactly when I was working on it However, I don't regret it, and I may probably draw more fanarts of the fic X'D</sub>
